50 First Dates--The Movie and Conclusion!
The Movie
I am referring my article to the movie, " 50 first dates" which had a cast of Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore among many other incredible actors.
I was delighted to see the character of Lucy Whitmore who suffers from short-term memory. Each day she lives her day as it comes along and then the next day, she starts fresh again no matter how her previous day was. Isn’t that amazing?
She has no hang-ups from her previous day and no memory of who said what and to whom. Each day she begins as a new day as if it is the FIRST day of her life. We say that she "suffers" from short-term memory but I think she is lucky and is in no way "suffering."
Something to ponder upon
Life sure is short for most of us and we have a list of things to do before we say Adios. People work ~10 hours, in a day and are so tired physically by the end of the day that when they go to bed, the mind does not allow them to sleep since then, at that time the mind becomes active and makes us go wild with imaginations and ideas of who said what and how it will influence their lives. All the negativism makes their mind tired although the body is resting. The next day, the body is all set to take up another long day of work but the mind is tired. That leads to irritation since we are not alert to take on the challenges of our present day.
We all play this kind of role sometime or the other in our lives and eventually our mind will tire out the body, which can lead to many physical illnesses.
Why do we do it?
What do we get out of it?
Does making our mind run wild solve our problems?
NO
Got a Solution?
We should all take ONE day at a time. Since most of us are "Healthy” and do not suffer from short-term memory loss, we will always have our thoughts the next day so, why then make our nights dreadful by thinking about them. The Almighty has given us Night/darkness to switch off our batteries and shut off for a couple of hours then why not avail of it?
Just as the Sun shines next day morning with a new date, a new month and a new year which has never been repeated WHY can't we also get up with that motive, a new beginning each day. That will restore our mind and our life. Each day when we look at the calendar or our planner we should think about our selves rather than the deadlines to meet. Just as the calendar never looks back, we should ALWAYS look ahead and stay positive on our thoughts. That feeling will give us a new outlook on life and we will be able to come up with solutions to our problems rather than going round and round about it.
Give it a break and this break will help us break our problems!!
