A cell phone has become such a necessity in our life. Thanks to all the cell phone towers the companies are installing everywhere. We bought this instrument with the thought that we can talk to anyone, anywhere on this planet. But gradually we upgraded ourselves by using our cell phone to

* Store contact information

*Make tasks or To-DO lists

* Keep Track of appointments and Set Reminders

*Use it as a Calculator

* Send or receive emails

* Get information such as news, stock quotes, entertainment from the internet

* Play Games

* Watch our daily shows

*Send Text messages

* Integrate other devices such as PDA, MP3 players and GPS receivers
.

We started off with something so simple such as staying in touch with a person when in need but we landed up with such high tech capabilities with a small phone. Wow, we men are such geniuses.

We have made our needs so indispensable. We cannot do with out it. We sleep with our phones next to us, since we use it as our alarm clock. We keep it with us all the time since don't want to miss out on the phone calls and the daily scoop of news via the internet. We don't forget to carry it with us just as we don't forget to wear clothes every morning.

Have we ever thought of the consequences it is having on our planet? Mobile towers and cell phones are posing a threat to honey bees with the emission of its electromagnetic radiation. There has been a decline in beehive population and if we do not take the necessary measures of removing these mobile towers, bees could be wiped out.

Studies show that when a mobile phone/cell phone is kept near a bee hive. The colony of been collapse in five to ten days, with the worker bees failing to return home, leaving the hives with just queens, eggs and immature bees.

Now, we have all learnt the benefits of bees and pollination. But in this hustle bustle of today's world we have to pause and think that, if there no bees then where will all the vegetation go? How will we thrive on this planet? Whom will we talk to with our mobile phones if there are'nt many left? We have some serious problem on our hand right now and either we limit our cell phone coverage or lose vegetation. Choice is ours and we have to draw a line soon before we all turn into cannibals.

Such a connection was indeed not anticipated!!!!

Gosh! I think we can certainly survive without cell phones... look at us HP friends... the best of pals without even seeing each other

But bees... they are the essence of pollination and an essential part of the life cycle in plants...

Their extinction would be fatal!!

The message needs to spread!!

What has happened to our society? I have a cell phone which I only use if necessary. For example, telling a friend I am running late.

I never understand people who are constantly talking on their phones. God forbid they are silent for a few minutes.

Voted up and away!

Before I read this, I never realized that cells phones and transmissions had any effect on the lives of bees. This is pretty alarming. This is a very important and informative hub.

I have always wondered about cell phones. They are a new phenomenon with regards to the history of the planet and there's NO WAY we can know about its far-reaching effects. I have long since suspected that a combo of our modern conveniences and pesticides have given rise to the mass extinction of animals that is going on right now on our planet. The system is so out of balance and we need to be judicious in our use of technology and other unnatural products. Thank you for being a steward of responsibility and of Mother Earth. :)
