Go, Get a Life!

Life...what a word huh!
We are alive 'cause we are breathing. Each breathe we take, makes this life go on and on and on until we breathe our last.
So, while we are breathing in and making our life go on...what do we do while it is ON? Are we in the Rat -Race that makes us just work and slog and be bitter towards the end of the day? Are we always cribbing about our Boss and wait up for the weekend to come to enjoy? If yes, then we are actually just living our life on 1 day of each week i.e Saturday. 'cause Sunday goes in laundry, cleaning up and getting ready for our Monday.
A hub written on the Days of the Week gives an idea of how we live...
Days of the Week
- Days of the week
A week consists of 7 days...out of those 7 days in a week, Sunday, goes in Laundry, Grocery, cleaning up and getting ready for work. Monday, goes in...
So, we deal with Sunday and then we start our week with the first day of the week...Monday!
Oh boy, this day goes like a drag and most of us experience a lot of heartache. Another hub of mine tackles on how to deal with Monday Blues.
Monday Blues
- Monday Blues
Monday, It is a part of the week which is most difficult to start with especially when life comes to a halt on saturday and sunday. Why is it so difficult to get up and start running after resting for 2 days?...
So, what is our life actually besides waiting up for Friday evenings and Saturdays? Statistics show that people party hard on those two nights and get hangover on Sundays. Is that the meaning of life? We spend the coming 5 days just thinking of our past since our present is so boring. Is that it? We spend our life in the past and in the future (as to where do we party next for the coming weekend) Do we really have an aim for our dear life? Or is it just working from 9am to 8pm and then crashing on the bed to wake up to another sulky day?
We are fortunate to get this life so, why don't we go and get a life? Question is HOW?
Firstly, start with a positive atitude and that will make each day of ours look so much brighter and happier and we will wish for the day never to end. It's the mind set which can take us miles before we retire for that day...
Remember those days...when we are born and there is so much happiness around in our family. Parents are happy to have us and we are cuddled with lots of love, toys and what not...Life is good! We start school and mingle with other humans around. We increase our communication and we look at life beyond our home. Wasn't that a wonderful feeling? We loved going out and hanging around with children our age.
We could keep that same perspective now and block our egos and jealousy and hatred. As we grew up, life definitely became more complex and challenging since there is a lot of competition around we had to turn in our innocence to become mature adults.
Innocence, sure is such a wonderful gift given to us by the Almighty. A hub explaining it is linked below.
My Innocence
- My Innocence
LIFE.....is meant to be lived. We get this precious life and we waste it by comparison, ego, hatred, jealousy, lies, fraud. What will we get in the end of it? Have we have ever pondered on this...
What is Life?
Life is a Zen. Life can be wonderful and we can achieve highs in this life OR it can be treacherous and can completely destroy us. We are riding our own chariot and we ought to take control of it. Let us not live only for 1 day of each week. Let us cherish each moment we are in and learn from it by bring awareness in our negativity and making sure that we are able to screen it well when it tends to take our life on a different route.
Experiment on our self:-
Let us all have a piggy bank and see how much we earn at the end of each month...
How about you deposit a penny at the end of each day IF you have had a GOOD and a POSITIVE day with an awareness of negativity in you.
I am doing this experiment on myself and would love to treat myself with the amount collected at the end of each month from my piggy bank.
Try it!
Let us all go and get a life...A life which will bring us calmness, satisfaction, happiness when we breathe our last on this planet. We don't know what kind of life we will get next so, why not make full use of it by doing good to ourselves and to our brethren around.

As I was reading this, I came to think... when I was working I always looked toward the future when I would have time off. That would go so fast, filled with the chores of life. Currently, I am unemployed and I find that the days all intermingle. A Monday is a Tuesday is a Wedsnesday is a Thurdsday is a Friday. No longer do I even care if it is the weekend, nor does it matter if it is a week day. They all seem the same. It is almost disappointing.
I love this inspiring hub and the experiment has real merit. I just might try it.

Good page Ruchira and very nice experiment. You are right: we can not build our life in only one day. Every moment is important. Let us enjoy every day!
YES!! What a beautiful place you are at Ruchira.. and what an amazing wonderful concept of a 'piggy bank' for your day-to-day LIFE! Love this! Thanks for reminding me to be-come present. We need more hubs like this.
up/beautiful/useful :)
I adore your outlook on life. You are so right on with your thinking. We really don't know about tomorrow, but we can be happy today. Thank you for making me think.
Cheers
PS Happy to follow you.
Very nice Ruchira! I also am a 'stay at home' mom - often I have no idea what day of the week it is. I only have to remember the day of Friday - tumbling lesson day for Maddy, and every other Wed. - newspaper club! I am the taxi:)!
Nice read - keep up the good writing - need to do the experiment you suggested :)
Positive attracts positive - sounds good to me!
Mondays are always a great day for me! I'm excited to get up and participate in what I love to do. That was the key for me - doing what I love. I try to enjoy the now and here of each and every day. I love the message of this hub!
I too find myself drawn to your hubs, Ruchira. You have so much incredible, and if I may say, simple wisdom. But then positive changes that we can make to our lives are just that, simple. In fact the opposite, living with ego, greed, jealousy, hatred, lies, etc makes for very complicated, tormented and unenjoyable living. I love the piggy bank idea.
Thank you so much for this pearl of wisdom, I will be reading more of your work. My votes to you.
This page is full of positive energy. Let me share this with my friends here.
This is a very inspirational hub! I know someone who needs this kind of information. He truly needs to get a life. The whole familiy is worried about him. I hope this may inspire him. I believe it has the power to. Thanks for sharing!
"Life-what a Word" - the very first line impressed me! I love the way you approach Life in your hubs! Whenever I read your hubs I get that positive energy boosted up in me!! The piggy bank idea was a good one. Though heard it before, was not practicing it regularly - thanks for reminding me about that!
Hi Ruchira, nice to come across you here in Hubpages. I also dread the kind of “living your life for one day a week” you first describe in your Hub. What a terrible way to live. I identify much more with the second life modus operandi that you are trying to encourage with this Hub. My experiment to live with a positive outlook is to write down 10 positive things that happened each day in my “notebook of appreciation” which keeps me focused on the great things that I have in life and make me feel thankful for them. What I need now is to work on plans for my future because I feel I am living very much in the present and, all though that is encouraged by many philosophers, I am not quite sure that is such a good thing for my economy. I live very happy, I do things I totally enjoy, but I have very little money and that does not feel right.
Nice Hub, very catchy title. Voted up and interesting.
it is strange but i fond myself also living for the evening.getting up in the morning i live for the 3 hours get to spend on the comp and in exercise all on my own before the rest of the family wakes up, then i rush to the office and do not even realize what is going on till lunch time (it is so hectic) and then after lunch and a small catnap i tell myself its only half a day to the evening when i can go back home and relax with a book, go out et all.
I would love to think i hate my work but i don't actually do most times i am happy with what i am doing but dunno why still want to escape from it all and break away to a less stressful regime.
Sorry this is all the break my time will allow me.will now let go till tomorrow when i log back in to see what comments my comment brought forth.
I have fortunately never found myself to be in the position of disliking work and merely living for 1 or 2 days a week. Now retired, I still find things of interest in each day...roses to smell...projects to complete.
I heard a wise person once suggest that before going to bed each night, one should write down just one thing that made you happy that day. Have it near your bed and when you wake up in the morning, read it. It will start your day off with a smile. I thought that was a good idea.
Thanks for sharing more of your wisdom with us in how to approach life. Up, useful and sharing it.
Great hub, we should def just live in the moment, I often have to remind people I am not my career!! I am a person and without a career I will still have a life. Most people live at work and then bring work home with them, this is so unhealthy!! voted up
The meaning of life is very simple to me. Actually life is simple to live but we make it complicated. I think it was a difficult topic to write but you did really well.
