Income Related Stress and Health Issues
The saying, “Money rules the world” holds true for humans since, with the help of cash; man is able to possess the riches and comforts existing on this planet. Thus, money is symbolizing the resources man is able to obtain besides his daily bread, and that gives him a status in the society.
No wonder, man is always ambitious to make money since; the world revolves around money, materialism, and status. A man is no more identified by his deeds, but he is identified by what car he drives (if he can afford any) or what kind of clothes he adorns himself.
If there was no concept of money; we would not be thinking about it all the time. Looking back at ice age when man was happy leading a vagabond life. He would wander where the animals would go and would tend to his garden for vegetables.
Result?
Stress would not be living with us, as a result, our life would be uncluttered and manageable.

― Jess C. Scott
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”
― Hippocrates

Health, Stress, Money
Health and stress are interlinked. Money is the cause of all this. Still we strive to earn it every day. We wake up every morning and think of the deadlines lined up. We want to run away from it, but then money rules the world, and we have to pay our mortgages, grocery bills, child's education and the pile is never ending. That makes us drag out of the bed and pour some extra strong caffeine into our system, hoping that this cup will make us extra alert to finish what we have to.
“You must learn to let go. Release the stress. You were never in control anyway.”
― Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free
“To achieve great things, two things are needed: a plan and not quite enough time.”
― Leonard Bernstein
“If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, live in the breath.”
― Amit Ray, Om Chanting and Meditation
Money has never made man happy, nor will it, there is nothing in its nature to produce happiness. The more of it one has the more one wants.
Benjamin Franklin
The lack of money is the root of all evil.
Mark Twain
A wise man should have money in his head, but not in his heart.
Jonathan Swift
A little thought and a little kindness are often worth more than a great deal of money.
John Ruskin
Money won't create success, the freedom to make it will.

Why are we running after money?
The reason we are running after money is that we have increased our liabilities in this life. Man is a hungry machine. He invents and then wants to possess it. Possession does not come easy. With the inflation, the amount we need is more than the amount we earn. This results in loan. Then comes the stress to get another job so that the loan can be paid off. This circle becomes vicious where stress can induce so many health concerns in man.
These days no matter how much income, a man is earning; it is not enough since; his hobbies and passion for materialistic things becomes wider. Thus, the issues of stress and health keep bogging him, and eventually he spends his whole life running after money.
What does money do?
Obsession of it can make a Man sick.
There are some who think that middle age is the time to work hard, and earn money, and when old age comes, they will retire rich and enjoy the bounties of nature. Alas, time does not wait for anybody and the stress that a person has accumulated over the year’s sprouts out.
Today man is facing physical and psychological stress that is damaging the immune system, and opening doors to a wide range of diseases. Depression and anxiety are common disorders observed almost everywhere.
- When can money make you sick?
Money...Money...Money! We all run after it. In the end, what does it make of you and your relationship? Ever ponder upon?
Is there a solution?
There are a couple of ways that we could try to adapt:
- We should learn to be satisfied with what we have, rather than yearn for things that we do not have.
- Use money as your tool to make your life and not make an aim of our life to earn money.
- Draw a line over your expenses and consider your needs versus your wants and you will realize that whatever income you earn, will lead you a Life, which is lived in Happiness and Satisfaction, and that will Pay Off in the Long Run by avoiding the stress.
