Is there a Santa Claus?
Month of December
Comes the month of December each year, and small children make their wish list and start getting excited at the thought of baking some cookies with their moms, in order to keep it next to their fireplaces for the Santa to eat, and drop off their gifts. Older children laugh over the myth of a Santa and are just engrossed in making their wish list for their parents to fulfill them.
So, Who is this Santa?
We have made a person called Santa who lives in the north pole and makes gifts/toys for children who have been nice the whole year and the children believe that Santa comes down on Christmas early morning to deliver their gifts. This fantasy is so believable that even I tend to clean up my chimney during this time of the year.
It is the belief of man which can make a delusion into reality. It is onto us how we relate the concept of Santa to the children. We have carols of Santa in which we say that we better watch out since Santa is coming to town. He is checking us if we have been naughty or nice and then he makes his list of which children to gift; accordingly.
We believe Santa to be a person who is jolly and happy. Anybody can be a Santa who believes in joy, happiness and sharing during this month. A Santa is present in them. Santa is a synonym of joy, pure at heart, a giver, a benefactor. A person who can understand the sorrows of others and can be of help in their hour of need is a Santa. Children should understand the concept of Santa Claus rather than just a old fat man with a red suit who gets gifts/toys for them.
Idolize our delusion, Santa?
We remember Santa every year because he is supposed to be giving us joy by making our wish list into reality. A person who gives us joy is always remembered year after year. We can learn something from this Santa figure that we all have created in our minds. He should be our idol. When we give happiness to people; they would want us to be around them always. This is the power of giving joy and laughter to people.
Points to ponder upon?
Let us try to ALWAYS give joy, happiness to people year round. This will not only make our month of December Special but, also the other months of our calender. We have to let go of the list and think of the deeds. Such type of deeds which will take us places. Such type of deeds will keep us mental peace. Deeds will make us happy and cherish that moment for long time to come.
Next time, when a kid works on his wish-list for Santa. We can correct him by making him follow the ideology of a Santa who is a giver of joy, and happiness rather than just the thought that a Santa is for a wish list.
