Earlier bats were like hockey sticks since, the bowling used to be fast, underarm and rolled along the ground. By the eighteenth century, the bat developed into a heavier, longer, curved version of our modern bat where the handle and blade were carved out of a single piece of wood.

Hello Ruchira,

Voted up and useful! You have explained the details of the game very clearly. This is my favourite game.

I would like to share a story with you. When my son was around five we enrolled him in a cricket coaching centre. At first he was excited but later lost all the interest just because of regimented way of training. Then we realised that at that age they love to play constantly and don't want to wait for their turn to come. During the training one has to wait as everyone has to get a chance.

Now, he loves to watch and knows about all the national and international cricketers. He plays too with his friends but still not interested in joining coaching.

All the Best!
