Show your Gratitude

When we were growing up, we were taught 5 MAGIC words:-
- Please
- Thank you
- Sorry
- Excuse Me
- Hello
As Children when we used to, use those words, adults would pull our cheek adorably and grant our wishes. How I wish our world would be this simpler as we became adults.
Unfortunately, as we grew up; we continued showing our virtues to the public but, some people around us are in a hurry and would not show their acknowledgment for our words. That eventually threw us apart and we realized the value of these MAGIC words. These words were meant to create magic ONLY when we were children and not as ADULTS.
How did this happen? How did the world change? What happened?
Nothing happened; these same few adults will pause IF a child is using those above words and admire the kid for good manners but they do not have TIME when adults show appreciation or affection towards any deed.
Time, is the key element that adults have been struggling with once; they turn adolescent. I have written a hub on the issue of Time.
- Is it TIME yet?
When we have kids traveling with us they are so excited to reach the destination that the above statement is uttered at least a gazillion times. You try to keep them entertained with books, board games, DVD's,...
Man is running around through out the day 'cause he fears that if he stands and admires the beauty around him; if he stands to appreciate his gifts, his blessings and his achievements; he will lose that Time to achieve something BIG.
Man has lost the feeling of gratitude towards Man, towards Nature, towards Destiny, towards Himself.
When he achieves something in his life he thinks he has achieved it because of his hard work and nothing in the world can help change his views on it. True, all achievements are achieved because of hard work but being Humble and bowing down to the Almighty for Luck, Fate and Direction can make our achievement look bigger.
Being Gracious can do wonders to our personality and our health. Just joining our 2 hands together can create such a ripple within our self which will make us feel humble. This humble feeling will give us a direction in life esp when the mind will tend to wander off on a path of nonexistense. It is a beautiful feeling to be humble and to be able to thank the existence around us.
Try it!

Thank you for the remainder to be humble. And to show gratitude. As adults we let time become our god. We forget who is indeed in charge of our lives and who enables us to enjoy successes here and there. To be like a child is humbling and a blessing.Great hub!
This is so true! It's good to stop and look around once in awhile and remember the simplicities of childhood. Well done!
A well-written post with excellent advice. Your hub should be required reading.
Lovely way of expression.
I have noticed one thing; not many people say thanks to people like maids, vegetable sellers n etc. I wont categorize them as lower class just because they don't earn much.
Even if for a single day my maid doesn't come it gets so hectic!!!!!! I realize the importance of these people and I wish more people come to this realization.
I am in total agreement with your article. I believe we should continue to teach kids from the womb to age 18.
Good manners leads to a greater respect of others.
Ruchira, It is a lovely hub. Voted up and beautiful!
I believe we adults are very complicated and lack innocence while the kids are full of innocence. That is the reason adults take lot of time to do simple things too.

Well written and all points are so true. In this journey of ours, we fail to appreciate the beautiful things around us and take them for granted.
Have to learn to pause and say Thank you for everything.
The joining of hands in so true...I tried it and it sure made me humble. Thanks for the pointers.
