Want to get Hypnotized?
75
I have been reading that a lot of people are opting for Hypnosis. They believe that it could be an alternative therapy for dealing with our day to day challenges besides treating mild to moderate diseases.
Below, I have tried to answer some very basic questions pertaining to hypnosis and how it works. Later on, in my hub I want to try to prove a point concerning this topic.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is where a person loses the power of voluntary action and is highly responsive to suggestion or direction.
How does Hypnosis work?
A Hypnotist serves as a tutor for the hypnosis to work. He brings about a state of focused attention towards the patient's motive.
What Effects Does Hypnosis Have?
The Effects of Hypnosis varies from individual to individual.
- Some have reported to get a feeling of detachment from the world and that makes them perform the activity they have got hypnotized for.
- Some individuals are fully aware of the surroundings and are yet, able to carry out their hypnotic work.
My Analysis & Theory
We have two states of mind: Sub Conscious & Conscious mind
Hypnotherapy is based on the principal that the mind and body work together. When we tend to talk to ourselves either in a positive or negative way; it affects our actions since our sub-conscious mind becomes active.
Studies show that our Conscious mind comprises of just 12% of our total mind capacity thus, many of our actions come from our Sub Conscious mind.
The bottom line is that:-It is OUR Sub-conscious mind. O-U-R
So, why do we need a hypnotherapist to work on OUR mind. (Apologize to all the docs out there!) We should be able to have that control over our mind and our body so, that when we want; we can achieve it.
Question is:-How do we make our body and mind in OUR control?
There are many natural therapies which guarantee the above. Such as:- Meditation, Pranayam, Yoga.
It all goes back to the medieval ages where each man was his own doctor and they had ways to conquer their mind and body. With the rise in the health insurances and with the state of our economy. We could take charge of it.
Maybe this rise in inflation is an indication for man to start being his own doctor and try to work on his sub-conscious mind.
Since, being an Arthritis patient; I have a few steps outlined which I have been using it on myself since the pain tends to overwhelm me and my lifestyle on a daily basis.
Step 1:-Each Morning; Detach from the community
Do not worry which friend is doing what and just get centered within yourself. Close your eyes and feel the pain and the pinch in your body.
Step 2:-Take a few deep breaths
Visualize the oxygen going in those places where it hurts. Feel the sensation. Let your sub-conscious mind feel the muscle relax of that area.Keeping your eyes shut. Be in that moment until you feel comfortable.
Step 3:-Slowly open your eyes
Look around the room. Stretch a little and you will feel the intensity of pain in that area diminish substantially.
The Yoga of deep breathing and visualizing the effected areas being charged with the extra pump of oxygen makes all the difference.
It is our mind and our body which come together to help make us stay healthy!

I sure have become your regular visitor huh :)
I loved this concept of yours directed towards inflation and rising health prices...LOL
However, I liked your experiment. I am sorry to hear about your pains and am glad that you find relief through it. I might give it a try for my aching back. Thanks!
This hub was useful and yet funny :)
it is said that only those that want to get hypnotized get so and those that want to resist cannot be whatever the hypnotist tries. is this correct?
Interesting blog. I do not plan on being hypnotized but I do agree with your meditation and breathing technique. Spending some time alone in the morning is always good - I enjoy it for sure.
Thank you for writing this. All the best!
I practice pranayam, do Vipasana meditation. I have also tried hypnotism or mesmerism for that matter but have not still succeed, though I feel I'm heading to the right direction.
I cannot thank you enough for your comment - it got me to find a ten day course to which I applied. Awesome! Thank you so much!
I have much to learn. Cheers!
I will try some of the steps you mentioned. I believe it would be of help. This piece is well written and informative. Bless you
Hi! Ruchira
I am indeed delighted that I came back again to your ashram (hubpages- I think of some of them as ashram). I enjoyed very much this article. So simple ideas and still they have strength. I have been using some of them and it does help. It sort lights your inner-self giving you energy and drive to feel happy and be careful of not hurting any one, unnecessarily.
But still reading again and presented in your nice style, I enjoyed and felt, I learnt some thing. I want to now go through your other articles too.
Ruchira,
Greetings from MAKUSR. I have always had an enigma sort of epithet attached with hypnotism. I have seen one or two magicians do that. In this subject my knowledge is totally virgin. thanks for bringing forth this topic informatively. In meditation people get hypnotized doing that.
Lots of Love,
MAKUSR
I always follow a reality show about hypnotized. I am too curious how the practitioners can make the others follow and do what they asking for. I learn much from you and thanks for share with us. Well done and vote up!

A fascinating article, thank you for sharing. Meditation and breathing techniques are very important I agree. I would feel a little uncomfortable being hypnotised I think but I know it does have some great benefits.
Voted up, useful, awesome, and interesting. I have always wondered about this and if it really works. When I see live pics of this, the emotions on their face tell it all. It looks real, but I can't help but be skeptic, not to say it doesn't work though. I believe there is a lot of stuff we fully don't understand. Great stuff Ruchira.
I practice yoga and the mindfulness of which you speak in this hub is very similar that in hypnosis--great hub!
Hypnotism is odd, strange, and wonderfully enlightening. The guide is paramount for the journey from my experience. I am one of those who would be hypnotized at a night club show and then do funny things - smile.
I like your comment about self-healing. Doctors in my view are only facilitators of knowledge guiding self healing and at times prompting it at times more rapidly.
Thank you Ruchira! For sharing a well written and informative hub leading one toward healing.
I have done self-hypnosis exercise. When you are able to hypnotize yourself, you feel like your spirit being liberated.
I was getting hypnotized from reading your directions Ruchira! That was relaxing. Thank you:))
Great hub and I love the thought of meditation and relaxing letting everything go. I think this is healthy and a must. Thank you Ruchira.

I was hypnotized once.. this Puerto Rican girl walked by me while I was at a cafe and damn was I hyponitzed!!! oh wait that's not what you mean right?
Excellent !!!!! Many thanks !!!!!
I tried getting hypnotized once, but it didn't work. But your steps toward the end sound doable. Voting this Up and Interesting.
I think this is excellent self-help advice for regrouping and rebalancing. I have been hypnotized on 2 occasions: once to quit smoking and the second to relieve stress - they both worked! Thanks for sharing.
Nice tips here, thanks for the step-by-step process. Will try to do it. Great hub. Voted up
I have always been skeptical at the thought of being hypnotized. A big part of me thinks it is the power of suggestion. It would be a fun thing to try. This is a creative idea and hub!
Came back for a second read--Just as great the second time around!
This is great information. Taking a moment to relax and detach from the outside world is a good idea. I need to try to do that more often. Interesting hub and voted up!
Ruchira, very interesting hub. I am going to try your routine for dealing with pain; I have 2 herniated discs in my back that are causing me no end of pain, especially when I first wake up. I will try the 'withdraw from the community' thing tomorrow, maybe I do need to centre a bit more and not worry so much about getting moving straight away.
This is a wonderful article. I practice "Mapping" which is similar in many ways. One of the main things before meditating is that you are clear of anything at least 3 feet around you. This is to open all energy fields that could be blocked from your body receiving energy. Great information Ruchira! Voted up! :)
Hypnosis is a powerful tool... whether you use a hypnotist to guide you or you practice self hypnosis. I have done both in the past and I will admit, the professional hypnotist actually got me deeper and deeper into a state that on my own I couldn't do. I almost felt like I was in a coma and just suddenly woke up. I have never been so relaxed before. Interesting hub!
Very interesting article, I really liked the idea you had about the morning exercise to use. I also think that breathing is very important.
Ruchira, it's seen that unless one has a will to get hypnotized one cannot be hypnotized. So getting hypnotised by a practitioner is allowing him to control your mind. If someone can do it for you, certainly it's self do able. Pranayam and meditation, since they give control over the mind can help one immensely in this direction.
After all, it's all in the mind.
Wonderful hub. Up all the way.
I love this subject and your hub was a great elaboration of what it is. I love how you give a step by step for someone to try to help themselves.

I like this very much, informative and useful. I love to meditate and do yoga. I was hypnotized once to help me stop smoking. It didn't work for me, but it does help many. I finally quit on my own, very difficult. Thank you for sharing.
Cheers
